CRTV and stealth: a practical survival loop
How to read nearby threats, move between cover, and decide when to fight or run.

Low spoiler level. This guide discusses core controls and tactics, not story reveals.
The CRTV is Townfall's portable television and its answer to the series' warning radio. Tune its frequencies to pick up nearby enemy positions, unstable signals and clues. A clear view down a street is never enough: Simon's first-person perspective leaves threats outside the frame, while fog cuts visibility further.
A repeatable room-entry routine
- Pause at cover before crossing a street or opening a door. Check the CRTV for a nearby signal and listen for movement.
- Choose a short path between objects that break sight lines: parked cars, signs and fences are useful. Crouch before committing to the crossing.
- Peek around or over cover to see the patrol. On PS5, the official PlayStation guide describes Circle for crouch and R1 + right stick for leaning. Verify controls on your own platform and binding.
- If spotted, turn a corner to break line of sight before entering a closet or locker. Hiding while an enemy watches you enter can fail.
- Recheck the CRTV after the threat passes; then inspect notes, drawers and computers. Reading and using the map do not remove nearby danger.
Fight only for a reason
The official game description presents stealth, melee and firearms as choices rather than one required style. Limited weapons make a fight costly, and the main ending calculation also relates to kills and discovered clues. For a first exploration run, avoid unnecessary combat, collect documents and save when a phone is available. A fight may still be needed to clear a tight space or survive a forced encounter.
Use the CRTV for puzzles as well as enemies
Signals carry narrative fragments and solution clues. The opening hotel door is an early example: its Room Service Card only becomes a full answer when paired with channel 60. When a puzzle has no obvious code, sweep the room for paper clues, then check the CRTV instead of trying every number.
